Benjamin Akers, of Winter Park is charged with 10 counts of possession of child pornography.

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – A Winter Park man was arrested Wednesday after Seminole County detectives said they received information he used electronics to download child pornography last month.

Benjamin Akers, 51, was formally charged Wednesday with 10 counts of possessing photos or videos of child pornography, according to the Seminole County Sheriff's Office.

The Sheriff's Office began investigating Akers on May 24 after receiving information about his recent online activity.

Deputies went to Akers' home at 5118 Tangerine Ave. on Wednesday morning with a warrant to search the house.

The Seminole County Sheriff`s Office Crimes Against Children Unit collected Akers external hard drives and found 10 videos showing preteen children engaged in sexual activity, according to the arrest report.

Akers was booked into the Seminole County Jail Wednesday and is held on a $350,000 bond -- each charge carries a $35,000 bond.

The digital forensic investigation is still ongoing, the Sheriff’s Office said.
