Woman, 72, dies after being pulled from Daytona Beach surf

Tropical Storm Jose creates rough surf

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Volusia County lifeguards are working to figure out if rough surf churned up by Tropical Storm Jose could be to blame for a 72-year-old woman's death. 

According to the Daytona Beach News Journal, the woman was pulled from the ocean Wednesday night by lifeguards near the Daytona Beach Pier.

The woman was taken to Halifax Health Medical Center, where she later died. 

No other details have been released.
