NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. - A 38-year-old New Smyrna Beach woman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence while an 11-year-old child was in her car.

Christy Bostic-Petrain was arrested Monday on charges of DUI and child neglect with great harm.

According to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office, Bostic-Petrain was spotted smoking and drinking in her car in the parking lot of a Walmart. 

Deputies said a boy got into the vehicle and she sped off.

Her car was later located by authorities and she was pulled over, said deputies, adding that she failed field sobriety tests.

According to deputies she then said, "I'm so screwed, please don't take my babies from me, I just did something stupid.  How could I put myself in this situation?  Stupidity."

Deputies said several alcoholic beverages were removed from the vehicle, including,  an open 12-ounce can of Natural Light.

Bostic-Petrain was arrested and taken to jail.

The boy was not harmed.
