DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A 63-year-old man has been arrested in a hit-and-run crash in Daytona Beach that left a 35-year-old woman dead, according to police.

Daytona Beach police tweeted Thursday that Juan Correa was arrested in connection with the death of Rusty Bovee, who was struck and killed Wednesday morning on South Nova Road at Forest Glen Boulevard.

Police said Correa was driving what as believed to be a 2007-2009 maroon Mitsubishi Raider that has dark rims, front-end damage and is missing its right-side headlight.

According to police, Correa, told investigators that he had consumed six or seven beers before the crash.

"Good work to all the DBPD investigators and civilian employees who worked quickly and tirelessly to get Correa off the street," police tweeted.

A passerby spotted Bovee's body on the side of the road and called police.
