Woman medevaced from Carnival cruise ship, Coast Guard says

Woman reportedly suffered from hypertension, officials say

MIAMI – A 71-year-old woman was medevaced Saturday by the U.S. Coast Guard from a Carnival cruise ship, officials said.

Watchstanders received a request from the cruise ship, Liberty, for the medevac, stating the woman was reportedly suffering from hypertension. The Coast Guard said it launched a helicopter crew.

The crew arrived at the scene around noon, safely transferred the woman and a nurse aboard the helicopter, and transported them to Jackson Memorial hospital, officials said.

The woman's condition was not given.
