LAKE COUNTY, Fla. - A school resource deputy is being credited with taking down a woman with a gun Monday at Eustis High School, according to the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities said Deputy Adam Tytler was responding to the administration office after two boys were sent to the office for fighting around dismissal time when he noticed a woman who appeared to be upset over the fight, walking from her office to a vehicle in the pickup line.

Deputies said the woman, identified as 20-year-old Tershia Richmond, of Georgia, was a family friend of one of the boys involved in the fight. According to the Sheriff's Office, Richmond had threatened one of the boys, saying she was going to get a gun and shoot him.

The school resource deputy said he saw Richmond reach into the car, grab a gun and put it in her pocket before heading back toward the school.

Tytler immediately drew his gun, ordered her to the ground and took her gun, which was later determined to have been stolen in South Carolina, according to a news release.

Tytler has been a school resource officer with Lake County Schools since 2014. This is his third year at Eustis High School. Before then he was assigned to Carver Middle School and Gray Middle School.

Richmond was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm on school property, possession of stolen property and carrying a concealed firearm without a permit, the release said.

Deputies said Richmond was not a student at the school and they don't believe she ever intended to target anyone else there. Authorities believe she just wanted to enact revenge over the fight.
The incident is still being investigated, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Richmond refused to show up at her first court appearance Tuesday morning. The judge raised her bond to $40,500.

In 2016, Richmond was charged with grand theft.
