Volusia County sheriff discusses using Narcan to combat opioid crisis

News 6 special 'Opioid Nation' to air Wednesday

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. - Many people in Central Florida and across the United States are feeling the effects of the opioid epidemic, including residents in Volusia County.

Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood sat down with News 6's Erik Von Ancken in this week's "Flashpoint" to discuss how his deputies are using Narcan to combat the crisis.

The discussion comes just days before News 6's special titled "Opioid Nation" is set to air.

News 6 anchors Matt Austin and Ginger Gadsden will host the special report on the opioid epidemic from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 6. The special will explore how the opioid epidemic is affecting the Central Florida community.
