Orlando City agrees to $18 million land purchase

Soccer team will own land where new stadium being built

ORLANDO, Fla. – The owners of the Orlando City soccer team have agreed to spend $18 million to buy two blocks of land from the city.

The land, near the Amway Center in downtown Orlando, is where the team's new stadium is being built.

Under the agreement, Orlando City will pay about $4 million up front and then make payments twice a year.

The City Council is expected to approve the deal at its next meeting, Jan. 25.

To help fans envision the new stadium, Orlando City has launched a new, virtual venue. It gives fans a 3-D tour of the $155 million stadium on their website.

Season ticket holders are able to see the view from their seats before the stadium is even finished.
