Orlando City celebrates stadium construction milestone

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando City Soccer Club is just days away from kicking off its sophomore season and on Monday the team will celebrate a major milestone in construction of its new home.

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer will join Orlando City Soccer founder and President Phil Rawlins  to celebrate the beginning of steel installation at the Lions' new stadium in Downtown Orlando.

Rawlins says everything is on track for the 2017 season opener. When it's completed, the stadium will house more than 25,000 fans.

The Lions' season opener for 2016, which will be played at the Citrus Bowl, is scheduled for Sunday versus Real Salt Lake.
