ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando Predators are now 7-2 after losing 59-56 to the Jacksonville Sharks Friday night.

Team officials said Randy Hippeard completed 26 of 37 pass attempts for 274 yards with seven touchdowns and two interceptions, connecting with Larry Brackins four times for 29 yards and three scores.

Brandon Thompkins paced the receiving corps with 11 receptions for 131 yards and two touchdowns, while Greg Carr added 71 yards and two more scores on seven catches, the team said.

Jacksonville got on the board first as Tommy Grady found Joe Hills on a 2-yard score. Team officials said Hippeard connected with Brackins on a 3-yard touchdown throw to give Orlando a 7-6 lead at the end of the opening quarter. Hills would catch a 6-yard touchdown pass to give Jacksonville a 26-21 advantage at the midway point.

Team officials said Hills scored again on an 8-yard reception, but Thompkins answered with a 54-yard touchdown return on the ensuing kickoff to cut Jacksonville's lead to 33-28.

Jacksonville built a 47-28 lead early in the fourth quarter. Team officials said Orlando got back on the board midway through the final frame as Hippeard hit Brackins on a 4-yard touchdown.

With 28 seconds remaining on the clock, the Predators trailed 53-48. The team attempted an onside kick, but the Sharks recovered and scored again off a quick pass to Hills. Team officials said Carr hauled in a 13-yard score during the final drive, but the effort was too late.

The teams played in front of a crowd of 10,651 at Amway Center. Orlando travels to take on the LA KISS at 6 p.m. on Monday, June 5.
