Report: Space Coast native, MLB All Star Prince Fielder to retire early

DETROIT – Space Coast native and six-time MLB All Star Prince Fielder's career appears to be over, according to reports.

Fielder, 32, has been dealing with various neck injuries since being traded from Detroit to the Texas Rangers in 2014.

According to Ken Rosenthal, the team is expected to make the announcement on Thursday.

Fielder underwent a second neck surgery in July.

Fielder grew up in Brevard County and played baseball at two different high schools there before being drafted seventh overall by the Brewers in 2002. 

Fielder is the son of former Detroit Tigers slugger Cecil Fielder.
