SUGAR GROVE, Ill. – The University of Central Florida men's golf team, which entered the postseason ranked 47th in the nation, made a couple of moves up the ladder after finishing its run in the NCAA Division 1 men's golf championship.

The Knights ended one of their best runs in program history after leaving Rich Harvest Farms in a tie for 14th, the best position since the Knights took 10th place in 2009.

UCF saw big performances from many on the team, including sophomore Kyler Tate.

Tate, who was trying to make a run for the individual national championship title, finished the tournament in 23rd place, one over par.

"This is a big accomplishment," head coach Bryce Wallor said in a UCF Athletics news release. "We came in here and played well with a lot of very, very good teams to make that 54-hole cut. I'm really proud of my guys."

Tate wasn't the only strong performer on the fairway and the greens. Freshman Bobby Bai was only five over and tied for 39th. Juniors Manuel Elvira and Juuso Kahlos, who had big days in the early part of the tournament and in regionals, finished in a tie at 72nd with scores of 13 over. Senior Ryan Stovash finished 83rd with a 25 over to finish his golf career at UCF.

"We lose one senior in Ryan Stovash, who has played a lot of golf for us," Wallor said in the news release. "Having said that, we've got a great player at home in Donnie Trosper and some good freshman recruits coming in. I'm really excited for our future."
