ORLANDO, Fla. – Fans of the University of Central Florida football team will have to wait just a little bit less this year for the start of the 2017-18 season.

Heading into coach Scott Frost's second year, the Knights will now kick-off their season on August 31 at Spectrum Stadium against FIU, instead of waiting till September 2.

The change that will put the Black and Gold on the field at 6 p.m. on Thursday, rather than on Saturday as originally planned, and will give UCF a chance at redemption.

The last time the Knights hosted the Panthers was in 2015, with FIU coming away with a closely fought 15-14 win after blocking a last minute, 47-yard field goal attempt by UCF's Matthew Wright.

But after a 6-7 season with a bowl game appearance in 2016, a new coaching staff and team identity, the Knights may be in a position to give fans more of what they are looking for.

Below is the tentative schedule for UCF, with some times not determined yet. According to UCFKnights.com, the games missing times will likely be determined 12 days before the scheduled event.
