Tim Tebow continues to shine with St. Lucie Mets
Tebow, Mets to battle Fire Frogs in four-game series
ORLANDO, Fla. – St. Lucie Mets outfielder Tim Tebow may had been called up with a promotional value in mind, but his 19 games spent with the High-A New York affiliate has proven he's more than just a method to sell tickets and jerseys.
Recently closing out a 12-game hitting streak, which ended on Saturday in Fort Myers, the former Heisman Trophy winner has turned around his baseball career with a complete 180.
Hitting .283 with a .500 slugging percentage and .377 on-base-percentage, Tebow has been a force at the plate. Trading in his helmet and pads for a bat and glove, the former NFL quarterback has 17 hits in 19 games with his new organization, including 11 RBI's and three home runs.
But fans in the Orlando area who want to see Tebow in his new niche won't have to travel all the way to Port St. Lucie. They just have to wait until July 21 when the Mets come to Kissimmee to battle the Florida Fire Frogs.
During the course of a four-game series with the Fire Frogs, fans can purchase tickets on the team's website.
However, maybe the more exciting news than Tebow coming to play the Atlanta Braves affiliate is that fans will have the chance for a $50 VIP experience.
The experience will include an on-field batting practice viewing session, preferred seating and a bottle of dirt from the batters box where Tebow will stand.
Tebow and the Mets are currently trying to dig their way out of last place in the Florida State League South division. The St. Lucie Mets are 8-15, going 5-5 in their last 10 games.
