Will Jimbo Fisher be on private plane owned by Texas A&M alum?

Florida State coach expected to accept $7.5 million annual contract from Aggies

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – One way or another, it seems someone is determined to leave Tallahassee for College Station, Texas.

A private plane that was scheduled to depart Tallahassee International Airport early in the morning Friday never made the trip, according to FlightAware.com.

However, another private plane is scheduled to fly out of Tallahassee for College Station at 12:30 p.m., leading to speculation that Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher may be meeting with Texas A&M officials to finalize a contract to become the school's next football coach.

According to a Federal Aviation Administration registry, the plane is owned by Benbrook, Texas-based Mayfair Investments LLC.

The chairman and CEO of Mayfair Investments LLC is Robert L. Albritton, a 1971 alumnus of Texas A&M and a member of the school's Board of Regents.

Fisher is 83-23 in eight seasons at Florida State. He led the Seminoles to the national championship in 2013, three Atlantic Coast Conference titles and four ACC Atlantic Division crowns.

Last December, Fisher signed a contract extension through 2024 that makes him among the highest-paid coaches in the country. His $5.7 million salary is the sixth-highest among FBS coaches this season.

Fisher said Thursday that he intends to coach the Seminoles (5-6) in their final regular-season game Saturday against Louisiana-Monroe. A win would make FSU bowl eligible for the 36th consecutive season.

The Aggies fired Kevin Sumlin on Nov. 26 after six seasons. Texas A&M was 51-26 under Sumlin, but the Aggies were just 25-23 against Southeastern Conference teams and wrapped up a third straight .500 finish in SEC play.

Multiple reports suggest that Fisher has agreed to accept a $7.5 million annual offer from Texas A&M and won't coach the Seminoles if they play in a bowl.
