Theme World: Babies At Busch & Disney

Jambo, Theme Worlders!!

Our area's Africas are celebrating baby births, and sharing baby pictures.

Let's start on the other side of the I-4 corridor at Busch Gardens Tampa.

An endangered Grevy's zebra was born on Monday at the park's 65-acre Serengeti Plain.

Within an hour, the baby was standing and nursing.  This is the 5th foal for 13-year-old Brooke, and the first for father Two Step.  If you moms think 9 months is long, think about Brooke. Zebra babies usually take 13 months to develop.  The new foal joins seven female and one male Grevy's zebras  on the Serengeti.

Busch Gardens' guests can view the baby  from the Edge of Africa, Skyride and Serengeti Express train ride.

You can also see Grevy Zebras at Disney's Animal Kingdom, along with Grant Zebras, though their location on the Kilamanjaro Safari ride.

But you can now also see this little guy on the ride, and the Africa Trek:

Readers of the Disney Parks Blog named him Mosi, which means "first."  That's appropriate because Mosi is the first Masai giraffe calf born at Disney's Animal Kingdom.

Here's video Disney posted on YouTube of baby and mom from the ride:

Hope you enjoyed the baby pics.

Keep your emails, questions, and comments coming! I always appreciate the feedback.

See you in the parks!
