NASA broadcasts first song played on Mars

Curiosity rover will play new will.i.am song

WASHINGTON – NASA will broadcast the first song to be played on Mars and it has chosen a new single by will.i.am.

NASA will debut the artist's new single "Reach for the Stars" on the red planet through the Mars rover "Curiosity" on Tuesday.

The rover successfully landed on Mars in early August. It has spent the past month feeding back new pictures from Earth's neighboring planet.

The Mars premiere of "Reach for the Stars" is part of an educational event with Discovery Education. Members of the "Curiosity" team will talk to students about the mission and the technology on board the rover.

The song premiere will happen at 4 p.m. and will be streamed live on NASA TV.
