ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando Magic and former Los Angeles Clippers center Marreese Speights have agreed in principle to a deal, according to News 6 sports director Jamie Seh.
Speights, 29, who played in all 82 games of the Clippers' 2017 season, averaged 8.7 points, .8 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 15.7 minutes per game.

Heading into his tenth season in the NBA, Speights started his career with the Philadelphia 76ers after being selected with the No. 16 overall pick in the 2008 draft.

Since coming into the league, Speights has played for Memphis, Cleveland, Golden State and Los Angeles.
The Magic, led by new president Jeff Weltman and general manager John Hammond, have made a couple of moves already this summer, starting with the draft selections of Jonathan Isaac and Wesley Iwundu.
Following the draft, the front office made decisions to sign free-agent and former Utah Jazz point guard Shelvin Mack. This came right before the Magic released guard C.J. Watson.
With Speights close to signing with Orlando, the Magic could gain another center, but also a possible power forward with the ability to shoot from beyond the arc.
Going 103-277 attempts, Speights recorded a 37.2 three point percentage. Only one player from the 2016-17 Magic roster had more three-pointers than Speights: Evan Fournier, who led the way with 128 shots made out of 360 attempts.
The Magic currently have starters in both the power forward and center roles with Aaron Gordon and Nikola Vucevic.
