ORLANDO, Fla. – UCF and USF will wage the War on I-4 in Orlando this Friday, and the result of the football game will have major implications for the teams and each city's respective mayor.
The UCF Knights enter the game 10-0 and ranked No. 13 in the Associated Press poll. USF, meanwhile, is 9-1 and ranked No. 22.
The winner will be in the driver's seat for a possible bid to a major bowl game.
The Bulls beat the Knights 48-31 last year.
The matchup even has the mayors of Orlando and Tampa placing a wager on the game.
Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn tweeted at Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, saying he'll provide Dyer with a case of beer and a box of cigars if UCF wins.
In exchange, Dyer offered some Orlando-brewed beer and a cornhole board if USF wins.
Each winning school's flag will also fly at the city hall of the losing team.
