Meet the strongest girl in any Florida high school

Ocoee senior sets national record with 305-pound bench press

OCOEE, Fla. – Ocoee High School senior Victoria Jefferson is the strongest female high school student in the country.

The 18-year-old has the weightlifting records to prove it.

Last week in Belleview, Jefferson won her second consecutive Florida state championship, bench pressing a national high school record of 305 pounds.

She told News 6 that going into the meet, her goal was to win another title and possibly give the record a shot. After presses of 265 and 285, she went for and lifted "the big number" as she called it, setting off a celebration.

Jefferson began weightlifting when she was 14 to get ready for basketball season. Two years later, she dedicated herself to the sport, training up to five days a week throughout the entire year.

Jefferson is also an A student, carrying a 4.6 GPA. She told News 6 that she plans to pursue a degree in nursing, then continue on to become an anesthesiologist, while competing in powerlifting.

What about the Olympics someday?

"Maybe," she said with a smile.
