Kaká named to 2017 MLS All-Star Game

MLS team to face Real Madrid at Chicago's Soldier Field

ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando City captain Kaká has been named to the 2017 MLS All-Star Game, joining a star-studded roster to face reigning UEFA Champions League and La Liga title holders Real Madrid.

NYCFC's David Villa, Toronto's Michael Bradley and Chicago's Bastian Schweinsteiger are also among the fan selections for next month's game.

Schweinsteiger was on Germany's 2014 World Cup team. He is joined on the MLS squad by Chicago Fire teammate Nemanja Nikolic as first-time All-Stars. The MLS team will face Real Madrid on Aug. 2 at Chicago's Soldier Field.

Atlanta United defender Greg Garza and teammate Miguel Almiron are also first-time All-Stars.

Goalkeeper Tim Howard of the Chicago Rapids will anchor a back line that includes fellow U.S. national players DaMarcus Beasley, of the Houston Dynamo, and Graham Zusi, of Sporting Kansas City.

Kaka completed the 10 fan selections. The 11th starter is Toronto's Sebastian Giovinco, who was picked in a vote tied to a video game.

Kaká has now been selected for the third consecutive year in as many MLS seasons.

The Brazilian attacker was named captain and earned MLS All-Star Most Valuable Player honors by registering a goal and an assist against English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur in the 2015 edition before captaining the best MLS talents against Arsenal in 2016.

Kaká has three goals and four assists this season for Orlando City.

The entire 2017 MLS All-Star gameday roster, consisting of 24 players, will be announced in mid-July.

The 2017 MLS All-Stars will face off against Real Madrid, the reigning La Liga and UEFA Champions League title holders.
