News 6 wins again at 11 p.m., makes big gains in afternoons

WKMG-TV gets results in Central Florida

ORLANDO, Fla. – For the first time in Central Florida Local People Meter (LPM) history, WKMG-TV News 6 took over as the No. 2 local newscast of choice among the key Adults 25-54 viewing demographic at News 6 at 5 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.

But that’s not all, Central Florida viewers also made News 6 the No. 1 newscast again at 11 p.m. It is clear March Madness on CBS and WKMG-TV wasn’t just about basketball; it was about News 6’s incredible momentum and how it is taking over, continuing to be the station on the move in Central Florida!

Getting Results with the afternoon newscasts and surpassing their NBC competitors at WESH-TV, News 6 is now No. 2 at 5 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 6pm with Adults 25-54 first time in Central Florida LPM history. News 6 beat WESH-TV and also won with Adults 18-49 at 4 p.m., 5 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Reinforcing that it is the only local television station growing and gaining viewers as the competitors’ continue to decline, News 6 also delivered the market’s only year-over-year audience increases in Adults 25-54. News 6 is up 40 percent at 5:30 p.m., with WESH-TV down 60 percent year-to-year. News 6 is up 50 percent at 6 p.m,. where WESH is down 53 percent.

This March, Central Florida once again chose News 6 at 11 p.m. to bring them the important information their families needed before they went to bed and made News 6 No. 1 at 11 p.m.  The March win marks WKMG-TV leading the market in total viewers for the past 12 consecutive months. The win in total viewers also brought a No. 1 win with Women 25-54, Adults 18-49, Adults 25-49 and Adults 35-64.

The 11 p.m. news is also the only newscast achieving year-over-year gains, up 22 percent Monday-Friday with Adults 25-54, opposite minus-48 percent for WFTV-TV, minus-33 percent for WESH-TV and minus-50 percent for WOFL-TV. Central Floridians are saying loud and clear that they overwhelmingly choose News 6 as the station to watch at 11 p.m.

When Central Floridians talk about a station on the move and overall station growth, you know the only station they are talking about is WKMG-TV News 6.  WKMG’s newscast News 6 at 4 p.m. delivered a 25 percent year-over-year gain in the time period in all key demos, and the station's 7 p.m. newscast is up 25 percent year to year.

This March, WKMG-TV turned March Madness turned into overall March Momentum and is the only local station on the move.
