MARION COUNTY, Fla. - Marion County deputies say a man wanted for grand theft and burglary shot up heroin while leading them on a chase.
According to the sheriff's office, deputies served a warrant for John Stephens on Monday at a home in Silver Springs. Stephens ran into a family member's car and drove away, deputies said.
Deputies chased the car before Stephens got out and started running, according to authorities. Moments later, a K-9 named Tipster took him down, allowing deputies to make an arrest.
Body camera video shows Stephens admitting to injecting heroin during the chase, then apologizing to deputies.
Stephens faces a list of felony charges.
