The most trusted chief meteorologist in Central Florida, Tom Sorrells is dedicated to bringing you accurate weather reports for your neighborhood.

Your safety is his top concern, that’s why he works hard to help you plan your day, stay safe from dangerous weather conditions, and keep you prepared for whatever weather comes your way.

This Emmy award winning meteorologist pinpoints storms and tracks them hour by hour as they make their way through Central Florida. During the Florida hurricanes of 2004, Tom started a segment called, “Talk Back to Tom,” where people from all over Central Florida phoned and got answers about the movement of dangerous storms and how to keep their family safe.

His work earned Local 6 the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award for journalistic excellence in its coverage of Hurricane Charley, Frances, and Jeanne. In 2002, Tom received an Emmy Award for meteorology talent. This award highlights Tom’s ability to present and communicate weather forecasts in a way that people can easily understand and appreciate. While working in Ohio in 1995, The Associated Press also recognized Tom’s talents and honored him with the Best Weather Operating Award. His accurate and personable weathercasts, have earned Tom Sorrells the National Weather Association Seal of Approval and the American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval.

Tom graduated from Western Kentucky University and received additional studies from Ohio State University. He has worked in markets across the United States including: Detroit, Columbus, and Myrtle Beach. When he’s not at the Weather Center tracking down storms, Tom enjoys spending time with his family in beautiful Central Florida. He’s not only a dedicated weatherman, but also a dedicated husband and father. On a nice day, Tom likes to take time to go fishing and ride his motorcycle.
