Riders rescued from 'Rip Ride Rockit'

Ride stops due to technical issue

ORLANDO, Fla. – Guests at Universal Orlando Resort had to be rescued Monday night from one of the park's most popular attractions.

According to a Universal spokesperson, "Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit" broke down while the cars were reaching the top of the first climb. The spokesperson called the problem a "technical issue" and said the ride "safely stopped."

The guests who were on the ride at the time were taken from the cars "safely and quickly," according to the spokesperson.

Sky 6 flew over the ride shortly after the rescue and saw workers at the top of the first climb trying to fix the technical issue.

It is not known if the ride reopened before the park closed Monday night.
