Law enforcement officials engaged in a chase with and eventually arrested an alleged drug dealer Thursday night who used the child in his car as a shield when confronted by officers, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A driver was arrested after deputies said he fled a traffic stop with fentanyl, methamphetamine and a child in his car. A Holly Hill police officer spotted the car after the initial deputy lost sight of it, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said. The officer found the car abandoned in the backyard of 940 Gardenia Drive in Daytona Beach, with the driver’s door open. The officer drew his Taser and ordered the man to stop, but the suspect was holding a 4-year-old boy between himself and the officer. When the door opened from the inside, the suspect pushed the child through and ran inside behind him, according to deputies.wftv.com

Body of man found at Seminole County park; woman still missing
SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – The body of a missing man was located Saturday in Seminole County, but a search continues for a missing woman with whom he was last seen, officials said. According to the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, the body of 26-year-old Trodarius Rainey was discovered in Lake Jesup Park. Rainey and Church were last seen Wednesday and had been in a black Toyota Camry with the Florida tag JKMN34, deputies said. The same vehicle was found at 1980 Cameron Avenue in Sanford early the next morning, according to deputies. Deputies said there was evidence inside the car that indicates the couple’s disappearance was suspicious, therefore they were considered “endangered.”Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of Church is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office or Crimeline at 800-423-8477.
43-year-old man killed after car overturns in Orange County
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A 21-year-old man was injured and a 43-year-old man was killed Friday following a car crash in Orange County. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 43-year-old man was driving a Toyota Camry north on Forsyth Road just before 3 a.m. Friday. Troopers said for an unknown reason the driver was unable to maintain control of his car and struck the curb. The roof of the Camry was said to have collided with a wooden power pole support wire after the crash. According to investigators, the 21-year-old was nearby and was struck by debris from the car.

Man, 87, killed in two-vehicle crash in Osceola County
OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. - An 87-year-old Kissimmee man was killed Sunday night in a crash in Osceola County, the Florida Highway Patrol said. The FHP said Fransico Naranjo died in the crash, which was reported around 9:50 a.m. at Centerview Boulevard and Greenwald Way. The front of the Hyundai struck the right side of the Camry, the FHP said. Naranjo was taken to Osceola Regional Medical Center, where he died, the FHP said. Charges are pending against Munoz, according to an FHP report.
Man accused of hit-and-run on Orange Blossom Trail granted bond
The crash was reported at about 3 a.m. Friday on Orange Blossom Trail between Central Florida Parkway and Taft Vineland Road, south of Orlando. Investigators said the driver of the Camry was making a U-turn and heading south on OBT when the crash happened. After the crash, Troopers said Plattner ran, leaving behind an injured woman who was in his SUV. Orange County K-9 tracked him, and he was located about a mile away from the scene," Lt. Montes said. Montes said Plattner has at least 17 traffic citations since 2015, ranging from driving without a license to careless driving.

A couple is carjacked at gunpoint in Orange County. LOCKHART, Fla. - A couple was robbed at gunpoint and carjacked early Wednesday in Orange County, deputies said. The armed carjacking was reported at the 7-Eleven at Forest City Road and All American Boulevard in Lockhart. The Orange County Sheriff's Office said the couple was robbed at the gas station before the armed assailants stole their car. Deputies are searching for a white 2018 Toyota Camry.
