Brevard County sheriff’s officials did not respond to inquiries about the situation or whether it is a public safety matter. Sheriff’s investigators were seen questioning nearby residents about the occupants of the home where the crime scene vans were parked. No other information was available Thursday.

Brevard deputy involved in crash while responding to another wreck
BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – A Brevard County sheriff’s deputy was involved in a crash Tuesday while they were responding to an unrelated traffic wreck, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office said. The deputy was responding to a vehicle and pedestrian crash on Fay Boulevard in Port St. John when the crash occurred, authorities said. The deputy was taken to a local hospital and expected to be OK. The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

Crash with 5 patients, including child, in Port Saint John
BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. - At least five people, including a child, were injured in a crash Friday, according to Brevard County Fire and Rescue. The crash happened at Kings Highway and Camio Avenue in Port St. John around 1:45 p.m. Friday. According to the BCFR, there are five patients so far including a child. The BCFR has sent out two pediatric trauma alerts and another trauma alert for an adult. Officials have requested a fourth ambulance and third helicopter for assistance with the crash.

Alanna Spangler, 19, of Port St. John was arrested shortly after 1:30 a.m. Tuesday during a traffic stop in front of the Brevard County Jail Complex in Sharpes, News 6 partner Florida Today reported. During the Tuesday traffic stop, she pushed away from a deputy, attempted to flee, and kicked deputies, an arrest affidavit shows. The burning Mazda ignited surrounding woodlands and sparked the brush fire, an arrest affidavit said. Two weeks after the fire, detectives interviewed Spangler who said Garrett wanted to burn his vehicle for the insurance money, an arrest affidavit said.

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. - Investigators determined a brush fire near Port St. John in April that endangered a horse rescue and several residential communities was set by a man who intended to defraud his car insurance company, according to a Brevard County Sheriff's Office arrest warrant. Roger Garrett, 41, of Titusville, was arrested Wednesday morning and booked into the Brevard County Jail on several charges, including fraud and arson. On April 17, Brevard County firefighters worked quickly to contain a brush fire in the area of Golfview Avenue and Flora Vista Place that quickly grew to cover 300 acres. The aerial video also showed a burned-out vehicle, which detectives later determined to be Garrett's blue Mazda hatchback, according to the arrest warrant. Roger Garrett, 41, of Titusville, is accused of setting his car on fire and causing a 300-acre brush fire.
