1 dead, 1 injured in fiery Oviedo crash
Car hits trees, bursts into flames; Florida Highway Patrol investigates
OVIEDO, Fla. – One person was killed and another was injured early Friday in a fiery crash in Seminole County.
The single-vehicle crash happened around 3:45 a.m. on Florida Avenue at Van Arsdale Street near Oviedo.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 2010 Kia Forte was speeding on Florida Avenue, drove through a stop sign and traveled onto the shoulder of Van Arsdale Street. The car then struck some shrubs and hit two oak trees before igniting, troopers said.
After the fire was extinguished, the driver was found dead, troopers said. Another person, only described by the FHP as a female, was critically injured and taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center.
The FHP said it's not known if either victim was wearing a seat belt or if the crash was alcohol-related.
