Volusia County deputies investigate incidents in Ormond Beach, Holly Hill

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. – A man wanted in a carjacking and bank robbery in Volusia County was seriously injured when the stolen car he was driving overturned in a crash, officials said.

According to Holly Hill police, Glenn Alexis Neal, of Daytona Beach, carjacked a woman at gunpoint around 11 a.m. in the Walmart parking lot at Flomich Street and Nova Road.

Neal, who was dropped off at the Walmart by his brother, drove to Ormond Beach and robbed a Bank of America off South Nova Road at gunpoint, police said.

Ormond Beach police then pursued the car south on U.S. 1 into Holly Hill, and the car flipped over after running over Stop Sticks and crashing into another car in front of the Publix at U.S. 1 and Castilla Street, officials said.

The suspected carjacker and a bag of money were ejected in the crash, police said.

Neal was injured and taken to a hospital.

"Thanks to the coordinated efforts of law enforcement, an armed and extremely dangerous felon is off the streets this afternoon," Holly Hill Police Chief Mark Barker said.

Neal's brother also faces charges.
