Volusia County's Road and Bridge Division crews left the bridge in the open position to allow for the passage of boats. County officials said a well-marked detour is in place.

The bridge crosses the Halifax River in northeast Volusia County. It is part of the northern leg of the Ormond Scenic Loop and Trail. Officials said the bridge was built in 1955 and is one of 54 bridges maintained by Volusia County.

About 1,100 vehicles cross the bridge each day, county officials said.
