The shooting was reported at 1:36 a.m. Tuesday along Palm Bay Road, moments after the victim exited from Interstate 95 and headed eastbound on the roadway.

"I've been shot. Somebody drove by and shot us," the man told 911 operators.

The driver, who has not been identified, told police that someone in another car, possibly white, pulled alongside him on the driver’s side and fired three shots.

The victim was taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne for treatment.

A spokesperson for the hospital says he was released Tuesday afternoon.

“He was shot in the leg. The other person then shot two more times into the car and left,” said Palm Bay police Lt. Mike Bandish. "It’s a possible road-rage (case). The victim immediately pulled over. We don’t know what happened, but the other vehicle may have thought he cut them off."

No arrests have been made, and police were working to identify the other car and its driver.

Anyone with information in the case is asked to call police at 321-952-3456.
