Motorcyclist dies in Leesburg crash, police say

Crash remains under investigation

LEESBURG, Fla. – The Leesburg Police Department is investigating a crash that left a motorcyclist dead Friday morning.

Leesburg officers responded to the intersection of Montclair Road and Thomas Avenue around 11:45 a.m.

Police said Herman McClenton, 68, of Eustis, was driving east on Montclair Road when he collided with Francis Sullivan, 48, of Leesburg who was riding his motorcycle north on Thomas Avenue.

McClenton was not injured, but his female passenger was transported to Leesburg Regional Medical Center with minor injuries, police said.

Sullivan was also transported to LRMC, where he later died, according to Leesburg police.

The crash is still under investigation, but police said preliminary findings revealed that McClenton was at fault for violation of right-of-way.
