Driver of truck left roadway, troopers say
ORLANDO, Fla. – The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a crash in Orange County that left a man dead and a woman seriously injured Friday afternoon, the Highway Patrol said.
The crash took place on the Florida Turnpike just before 3 p.m, troopers said.
A truck was traveling north on the turnpike, just south of State Road 417, when the man, Humberto Cebada, 76, of Kissimmee, and woman, Edith Cebada, 73, of Kissimmee, were outside their car trying to fix a plastic tarp on a trailer they were towing, troopers said. The truck left the northbound lane and entered the right shoulder, striking both the man and woman, troopers said.
Humberto Cebada was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said. Edith Cebada was transported to Osceola Regional Medical Center in critical condition.
All lanes were blocked, leaving traffic backed up past U.S. 192, the Highway Patrol said.
Traffic was being diverted at State Road 417.
