Brush fire smoke delays school buses in Lake County

Visibility issues plague Royal Trails area

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – Smoke from a brush fire is causing delays for students in Lake County.

Lake County Schools tweeted early Friday that buses are running slowly near Royal Trails because of smoke from the fire. Student pickups in that area are delayed.

Visibility issues have plagued the area in recent weeks, previously preventing buses from operating in the area.

Student absences were excused because of the situation.

Orlando is nearly 8 inches below the normal amount of rainfall for the year.

Most Central Florida counties are under a burn ban because of the dry conditions.

Central Florida is expected to see record heat Friday, with highs reaching the mid-90s.
