SUV snaps concrete power pole in half in Marion County crash

Driver taken to hospital as 'trauma alert' patient

OCALA, Fla. – A driver was seriously injured early Tuesday after crashing into a concrete power pole in Marion County, officials said.

The crash was reported at 12:50 a.m. near the intersection of Southwest 95th Street Road and Southwest 60th Avenue in Ocala.

Marion County Fire Rescue said a gray SUV was found with heavy damage after it struck a pole and snapped it in half.

Firefighters extricated the driver, who was taken to a hospital as a "trauma alert" patient.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
