Debris punctures tractor-trailer's fuel tank on Lake County highway

Hazmat team called to clean up spill on US Highway 27


CLERMONT, Fla. – A semi struck some debris Wednesday on U.S. Highway 27 in Lake County, puncturing the truck's fuel tank and causing a 50-gallon fuel leak, fire officials said.

The incident was reported around 5 a.m.  on U.S. Highway 27 near Montrose Street in Clermont.

A hazmat crew cleaned up the leak, Lake County fire officials said.

No fire was reported.

Fire officials said the area was cleared about six hours later.
