DeLand police said the crash was reported at 4:13 p.m. at the intersection of Flightline and Biscayne Boulevard. The motorcyclist, who officers later identified as Bobby Taylor, 32, of DeLand, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Based on the evidence at the scene, police determined that Taylor's motorcycle collided with a silver vehicle, which witnesses said had heavy damage to its passenger side and fled westbound on Old Daytona Road, according to authorities.

Police found a silver four-door Mercedes and Fischer, who was arrested and taken to the Volusia County Branch Jail in Daytona Beach. He's being held without bond.

An investigation is continuing.
