Man killed in Orange County hit-and-run

FHP troopers search for black SUV

ORLANDO, Fla. – An Orlando man was struck and killed late Thursday in a hit-and run crash while trying to cross an Orange County road, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The fatal crash was reported around 11:15 p.m. at the intersection of Colonial Drive and Hiawassee Road.

The FHP said a black Infinity FX35 was westbound on Colonial Drive when it struck the man, who walked into the direct path of the vehicle. The driver stopped for a brief time before fleeing the scene, troopers said.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, troopers said.

The Highway Patrol said Saturday that the driver of the black SUV had still not been located. Troopers said the driver's vehicle looks like the one pictured above, but has front end damage.

Anyone who sees the SUV or has information about the crash is asked to call the FHP or Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
