Tennessee man dies in 2-vehicle crash, FHP says

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – A 29-year-old Tennessee man was killed and three others were injured Sunday night in a crash on the Turnpike in Lake County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Jonathan Clark, of Maryville, died in the two-vehicle crash, which happened at 8:30 p.m. in the northbound lanes of the Turnpike near Howey-in-the-Hills.

The FHP said a Honda van driven by a 78-year-old Summerfiled man left the road and struck the rear a 2017 Nissan Sentra that was stopped on the shoulder of the highway. The Sentra overturned in the crash, troopers said.

Clark, who was in the Sentra, was taken to Leesburg Hospital, where he died, the FHP said.

The driver of the Sentra, a 46-year-old Tennessee woman, was taken to Ocala Regional Hospital with serious injuries, the FHP said.

The driver of the van and his passenger, a 74-year-old Summerfield woman, suffered serious injuries and were also taken to Ocala Regional, the FHP said.

The crash remains under investigation.

Lanes of the Turnpike were closed after the crash but later reopened.

No other details have been released.
