HOLLY HILL, Fla. – A motorcyclist who was found dead late Tuesday atop a wood chipper after crashing into a truck towing the equipment in Volusia County has been identified, police said.

Police said Daniel Luz, 28, of New Smyrna Beach, was killed in the fatal crash that was reported at 9 p.m. on Nova Road near LPGA Boulevard in Holly Hill.

Police said the truck entered the middle southbound traffic lane from the Walgreens parking lot when the crash occurred. Luz was ejected and found on top of the wood chipper, police said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, Holly Hill police said.

The driver of the truck, a 52-year-old Holly Hill man, was not injured.

It has not been determined if any charges will be filed, police said.

An investigation is ongoing.
