Woman faces DUI manslaughter charge after killing bicyclist, FHP says

ST. CLOUD, Fla. – A 28-year-old Kissimmee woman was arrested early Thursday on a charge of DUI manslaughter in connection with a crash that killed a 50-year-old bicyclist, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The FHP said Megan Marie McGath was arrested after the fatal crash, which was reported at 2 a.m. on Canoe Creek Road and Nolte Road in Saint Cloud.

According to troopers, McGath was driving a 1997 Honda Civic north on Canoe Creek Road when she drove onto the shoulder for an unknown reason and struck 50-year-old Robert Willoughby who was pronounced dead at the scene.

McGath was arrested on charges of DUI manslaughter and booked into the Osceola County Jail.

Neither McGath nor her passenger, a 21-year-old Kissimmee woman, were injured in the crash, the FHP said.

The crash remains under investigation.
