ORLANDO, Fla. – A 60-year-old Orlando woman fell asleep at the wheel Monday morning and crashed into a home, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said Ana Perez was cited for careless driving in the crash, which was reported around 5:15 a.m. on Crosshair Circle near Pica Street in Orlando.

The FHP said Perez was driving an Infiniti G37 northbound on Pica Street when she fell asleep and crashed into the garage of a home on Crosshair Circle. The vehicle struck and destroyed a mailbox before hitting the home, troopers said.

Perez was not injured, but her 22-year-old passenger, a Kissimmee woman, was taken to Osceola Regional Hospital with minor injuries, the FHP said.

No one inside the home was hurt, the FHP said.

Alcohol did not play a role in the crash, officials said.
