Man, 87, killed in Cocoa crash, officials say

COCOA, Fla. – An 87-year-old man was killed Sunday in a two-vehicle crash in Cocoa, officials said.

Florida Highway Patrol officials said Richard Basso, who was driving a Honda, rolled through a stop sign and collided with a pickup driven by William Wells, 53.

Troopers said the elderly man died of his injuries. Wells was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries, the FHP said.

Traffic was diverted west on Camp Road to Grissom Parkway, north to Fay Boulevard and then east to rejoin US 1, officials said.
