ORLANDO, Fla. – A 60-year-old woman pushing a shopping cart in a marked crosswalk was struck and killed Monday night in Orange County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Troopers said Elqourdes Dacine, of Orlando, was struck around 8:30 p.m. near West Oak Ridge Road and Texas Avenue in Orlando.

According to the FHP, a 61-year-old Orlando man was driving a 2017 Dodge van and struck Dacine, who was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where she died.

The driver, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured.

Alcohol did not play a role in the crash, troopers said.

It's not known if the driver faces any charges, and the crash is under investigation.
