Worker thrown over guardrail, down embankment, troopers say

ORLANDO, Fla. – A construction worker was injured after he was struck by a vehicle while picking up traffic cones in Orange County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said 42-year-old Shawn Grant, with SEMA construction, was picking up the cones around 6:30 a.m. in the right southbound lane of State Road 417 at mile marker 28 when the driver, 28-year-old Joshua Mann, of Orlando, didn't stop.

Mann's four-door Saturn struck Grant, throwing him over the guardrail and down an embankment, troopers said.

He was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center to be treated for serious injuries.

Mann was ticketed for failing to maintain a single lane, according to the crash report.
