ORLANDO, Fla. – Parking fines could soon be going up for Orlando drivers.
The city council voted unanimously Monday in a public hearing to approve the first read of an ordinance that would raise parking fees by $5 for certain violations, city officials said.
In January, the ordinance will go to city council for a second read. If approved then, the increased fines for five violations will go into effect May 1, a spokeswoman for the mayor's office said.
The increase will include tickets for meter violations and parking over the line.
