The FHP said an Osceola County deputy was headed west on Oakwood when he turned around to evaluate a 2002 Chevrolet SUV that was traveling in the opposite direction.

The SUV sped off, pulling away from the deputy, who never activated his lights or siren, officials said.

The deputy lost sight of the SUV, which crashed and overturned, the FHP said.

It's not known which man was driving the SUV, troopers said.

The crash remains under investigation.
