Road Ranger breaks car window, saves man from Orlando pond

'He saved my life,' Alex Morales says

ORLANDO, Fla. – A Road Ranger jumped into a retention pond Thursday and rescued a man who had crashed along State Road 417 in Orange County.

The crash happened on SR 417 south near Narcoossee Road, not far from Lake Nona.

Orlando police said Alex Morales' vehicle left the roadway and went into the retention pond. He said he did not know what caused the crash.

"I lost control of the car. I don't know what happened. I don't know," Morales said.

The Road Ranger saw the crash and went into the water to help Morales, police said.

Morales told News 6 he was trapped inside before his vehicle submerged.

"When I was in the water, I saw the water coming faster. I tried breaking the glass, opening the door, but I couldn't. I saw one guy working, he came with little tools, broke the glass and saved my life," Morales said.
