Bicyclist struck, killed in Osceola County

FHP investigates fatal crash on Pleasant Hill Road

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – A bicyclist was struck and killed early Monday on an Osceola County road, troopers said.

The fatal crash was reported around 12:55 a.m. on Pleasant Hill Road near Blossom Street, south of Kissimmee.

The Florida Highway Patrol said a 21-year-old Kissimmee man was driving a 1994 Chevrolet pickup truck and struck the bicyclist, who was traveling in the same direction in front of him.

The driver said he never saw the bicyclist, who was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the FHP.

Troopers said the driver was not under the influence of alcohol and was wearing a seat belt.

The bicyclist was not wearing a helmet, according to the FHP.

It's not known if the driver will face charges. The crash remains under investigation.
