FHP identifies victim as Mary Pitsky


DeLAND, Fla. – A 37-year-old DeLand woman was killed Tuesday morning in a crash on I-4 in Volusia County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Troopers said Mary Pitsky died in the crash, which was reported around 6:30 a.m. on I-4 west near U.S. 92 and Exit 192.

The FHP said Michael Pitsky, 42, of DeLand, was driving a 2005 GMC SUV west on I-4 when he traveled onto the median for an unknown reason and overcorrected. The SUV overturned, ejecting Mary Pitsky, who was pronounced dead at the scene, the FHP said.

Michael Pitsky was taken to Advent Health DeLand with minor injuries, troopers said.

According to the FHP, Mary Pitsky was not wearing a seat belt.

Charges are pending against Michael Pitsky, the FHP said.

Authorities did not disclose the relationship between the victims.
